Social Activities
The Fun and Fellowship Committee is returning! Check back soon for more fun activities planned!
Second Sunday Potluck Meal

On the second Sunday of the month, the congregation gathers for a potluck lunch, following the worship service. These are comfortable, informal occasions where all are welcome. Bring a dish to share, and meet some new friends!
Circle Suppers
Circle Suppers are a part of UU congregational offerings throughout the United States and are a wonderful way to meet other people at the UUC. Each family serves as host to others for a potluck meal. Locations rotate throughout the year. If you are interested in participating, fill out and return this sign-up form by September 25.
KidSpirit are family parties, designed to allow families to meet and socialize at the UUC. A potluck dinner is followed by planned activities for the kids. Often, we include a movie for the kids, while the parents socialize together. All ages are welcome. Check the calendar for upcoming parties.
The Dances of Universal Peace is held on the 4th Saturday of each month at 7:30 PM in Elarth Hall. The dances combine sacred phrases from different spiritual traditions with simple melodies and folk-dance movements. All dances are taught as we go along, so no previous experience is necessary, and newcomers are always welcome. The dances move us beyond words, to the heart-felt experience of love, harmony, peace and joy.
Newcomer Potluck
Three times a year, we hold a newcomer’s potluck at the congregation. This is a great opportunity to get to know other folks who are new to the congregation. Potlucks are usually held on a Saturday evening from 5:30-8:30. After a brief welcome and introductions, we share the food.
Vegetarian Club Potluck
If you enjoy eating vegetarian cuisine and having a good time, come to the Vegetarian Club Potluck. Everyone is welcome—just bring a favorite dish to share. Check the Calendar for scheduled dates. For more information, contact Liz Shooltz.
The Fourth of July picnic is held at Caboose Park, the main municipal park in Blacksburg. A shelter is reserved from 4 pm to midnight. The Fourth of July celebration includes music and entertainment and a fireworks display after sundown. The congregation rents a shelter, usually the large one, known as Shelter 1. Bring chairs or a blanket. Join in the picnic at the UUC shelter. Just bring something for you or your family and something to share with others (non-alcoholic drinks, main dish, side or dessert).
