Annual Goods and Services Auction
The annual Goods and Services Auction, held in the Fall of each year, is the UUC’s biggest fundraiser of the year and always a night to remember. Each auction has a fun theme, and many come dressed in costume. A skit or other theme-based entertainment is always guaranteed to bring down the house. We have both a silent auction and a live auction that include artwork, jewelry, fabulous dinners, vacation rentals, home repair, mystery nights, massages, and much more. For the hungry and thirsty, there is plenty of delicious food and drink. This is an adult-only event, and childcare is provided.

Grocery Gift Cards
Each Sunday after the service, you can purchase grocery gift cards for Kroger and Food Lion at a table in Elarth Hall. Kroger then donates 5% and Food Lion 4% of the purchase price back to the UUC at no cost to you. Kroger cards can be continually recharged at the store using your credit or debit card (gaining whatever benefits you receive). Food Lion cards are not rechargeable, and additional cards must be purchased at the UUC. Then, simply use the gift cards to pay for your purchases when you shop.
In addition to the usual groceries and prescriptions, you may now use your Kroger gift card to purchase fuel at the local Kroger gas stations. The more you shop at Kroger, the more fuel points you earn for discounted gas at their stations. Kroger and Food Lion also sell gift cards to many local restaurants and stores, Amazon, and even prepaid credit cards. Use your UUC grocery gift card to purchase any of these gift cards and benefit the UUC - again, at no extra cost to you. These gift cards make perfect gifts.
For more information about a Kroger or Food Lion gift card, contact John Kelso.
Selling on eBay
If you have possessions such as antiques, old jewelry, coins, shoes, photography equipment, etc. that you no longer use, consider donating them to the UUC for sale on eBay through our dealer, AJ’s Antiques and Art Gallery in Christiansburg. AJ will research the value of each item and post it on eBay as long as the value of the item exceeds $10. If the value is lower, items will be bundled to achieve that $10 cutoff. Once the item sells, you will receive a receipt for the amount that can be used as a charitable-gift tax deduction. Bring your items on a Sunday and leave them in the closet adjacent to the Cuddle Room (to the right of the sanctuary). Include the eBay Donation Form. (Copies are also on the shelves where items are to be left.) For more information or to have items picked up at your home, contact Linda Powers.
SUUSI Hospitality
The Southeast Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute (SUUSI) has been held at Virginia Tech or Radford University for many years. Our Congregation offers rides to and from Roanoke Airport, and home hospitality and a big potluck dinner for those arriving a day early for SUUSI. We ask for a donation to the UUC for these services. In addition to the financial benefit, our members enjoy meeting UUs from all over the country and friendships have blossomed.
